Caroling, caroling
Tonight was caroling with the other French students in the district. We were outside JC Penny's at the downtown mall in Salem. C'est amusant!

Final French Club Meeting
Our final French Club meeting this year will be on Wednesday June 8 after school in the cooking room. We will be making cream puffs!
Quidditch--french style
Today after school we will be playing quidditch. House teams will compete in a three game tournament. Come and cheer on your favorite team! Snitches will be Sean Barr, Katy Bentson, and Anna Hauck. We will also be having several teachers help us keep on track!

French Camp 2011
It is that time of year again! We are getting French Camp ready for June 20 -24. Counselor applications have been turned in and now I will complete the background checks. If you are interested in having a student join us for French camp the price is $75 per student and includes all activities and food plus a camp t-shirt. Sessions are Session I 9-11:30 and Session II 1-3:30. Applications are available on the West Salem High School Website, at the West Salem HS front office or on the SKSD TAG website.
Europe Trip 2012 update
We will be meeting on May 17 at 6:30 pm in the Titan Room. Look for updates on fundraisers. There will be a group working on basic Italian during the summer. Also time to get your passport! Our goal is to have all passports currect by next fall so start your application today!
Coupe des Quatre Maisons
We are finally on our way to our first annual "Coupe des Quatre Maisons" or House Cup competition! All of the first and second year students have been sorted into one of the four Harry Potter houses. Their French names are: Gryffondor, Poufsouffle, Serdaigle, et Serpentard. Our first two activities for house points will be the trivia quiz en français this week, and house spirit points for wearing your house colors on Mon May 23-Thurs May 26 of next week.
We are hoping to have a quidditch tournament before the end of the year : )

La Société Honoraire de Français Spring Awards and Induction Ceremony
We are pleased to announce that we will be honoring 16 seniors and inducting 49 new members at our annual Spring Awards and Induction Ceremony this year. The meeting will be held Tuesday April 19 at 7 pm in the West Salem High School Auditotium. Principal Ed John will be awarding the senior cords to our outstading seniors. We will also recognize our honorary chapter senior members. Please join us for a fun evening with refreshments following the program.
AP French Exam
Just a reminder that the AP French Exam is scheduled for May 10 at 12:00 noon. We will have a practice exam on Friday April 22 beginning at 1:00 pm. If you have any questions, please contact Mme Beckstrom
Poisson d'avril--everyone loves being "fished"
We had a great activity last Friday on April 1st. Over 200 people came to turn in their paper "Poisson D'Avril" for candy in the french room after school! Who knew so may foolish people were on our campus?! We had a great time and then French Club watched part of an Astrix film.

French Update
Well we made it through Spring Break--this time next year we will bereturning from a wonderful trip to Europe! There is still time to register if you are interested in joining us. Program fees will increase April 1. Get in touch we me if you need registration information.
Also the French National Honor Society Applications are all in and now we wait for notification on who will be inducted this spring.
The AP French Test is coming soon. A little more than a month!
Petanque League will begin in April or May. Sprague is very interested in competing with us.
French Club will be on Friday April 1 for the Poisson d'Avril! Join us right after school in B126
